Jeffrey will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Marilyn, daughters Jaylyn (Jason), Reegan, and his precious granddaughters, Alivia and Voni. He also leaves behind sisters Sheila, Judi (Richard), Connie (Al), brother Kerry (Linda), brothers-in-law Bob (Wilma), Allan (Joanne), Barry, sister in law, Crystal, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Jeffrey was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Mae, mother-in-law, Dorothy, brothers-in-law, Harold, Bill, Kenny, and niece Kerri-Lynn.
At the young age of 12, Jeffrey’s first summer job was flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s in Winnipeg. Once he obtained his driver’s license, he started summer employment for the Manitoba Highways Department, which continued until he became an employee at Burns Meats, after his high school graduation. After twenty years of hard work and commuting from Carman, Jeffrey quit and started working for Sperling Industries Ltd., where he dedicated the remainder of his career, continuing his father’s work philosophy, “do your best or don’t bother doing a job at all.” Jeffrey so enjoyed working at Sperling where he created life-long friendships. Early retirement from Sperling was difficult for Jeffrey to accept.
When Jeffrey wasn’t working, he always loved playing sports, coaching sports, watching sports, and finally betting on sports. He loved hunting, fishing, and when he could no longer do that, he set up post on his front deck, hunting down squirrels and waving to anyone and everyone who passed by.
Jeffrey and Marilyn were high school sweethearts, marrying in 1980, living in Winnipeg, then making their home in Carman. His greatest joys were his two daughters, which was only doubled with his two granddaughters. Jeffrey was happiest when they came to visit, and being their grandpa was what he did best. They will greatly miss their “young man”.
As we all know, Jeffrey loved having family and friends over to his home so he could cook, entertain, and never share his secret recipes. He was an impatient man, but he always took the time to create lasting memories for which we will always be grateful for. Jeffrey had the biggest heart, would do anything for anyone, and his love for his family was exceptional.
Jeffrey, Dad, Grandpa – you will forever be in our hearts.
Private interment will be held in the Badger Cemetery. Celebration of Life details will follow.
