Mom entered her eternal rest on the morning of July 16th.
She was born to Jacob and Grietje Kuik on April 17, 1930, in Drenthe, the Netherlands. In 1932 the family moved to Enschede in Overijssel where she attended elementary - and home economics school and then worked in a sewing factory. She emigrated to Homewood, Manitoba, Canada with her family in 1950. Her fiancé, Joe van Dijk, followed her and they were married in Homewood on May 20, 1952. They lived for a time in Winnipeg but finally settled in Carman where Joe was Public Works foreman for many years. Here they raised their family of seven, Trudy, Gerry, Maggie, Irma, Harold, Carolyn and Jennifer. Joe passed away in 1990 and 10 years later she married Sy Raap of Winnipeg. They lived in Winnipeg until Sy’s passing in 2020, after which Jenny moved back to Carman to live at Meadowood Estates.
Throughout her life, Mom was involved in many church activities and, in old age, remained up to date on church and world events via her trusty iPad. She also appreciated receiving pictures and emails from her numerous children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jenny is survived by her seven children, 34 grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, her sister Jane Toet, brother Jake Kuik (Rita), sisters-in-law Ardis Kuik and Alice Kuik.
Her family wishes to express their appreciation for the many words and acts of kindness extended to them during this time of sadness. A special thanks to the many health care professionals who cared for Mom so faithfully during the last years of her life.
