Frost, Joan Katherine, Nee: Caswell
April 27, 1932 – July 13, 2023
On July 13, 2023, Joan Katherine Frost of Pembina Manitou Health Centre, formerly of Miami & Morden, passed away at the age of 91 years.
Joan will lovingly be remembered by her sons Robert (Deb), Doug (Veronica) and Raymond (Bev) as well as Grandchildren, Benji, Ryan (Kate), Kim (James), Michelle, Joel (Naomi), Amber (Danny), great-grandchildren Mason, Holden, Saul, Cody (Morgan), Tatiana, Emma, Layla, Ripplen, Adley, Daxton, numerous nieces, and nephews as well as many friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Cyril Roy Frost on December 7, 1992, her parents Roy and Joy Caswell, her in-laws Roy and Elsie Frost, great-grandson Brad Wall, two brothers, 1 brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law.
Joan spent much of her nursing career at Morden General Hospital and was awarded the 1st ever Manitoba Nursing Excellence in Practice Award in 1986 and was also received a Lifetime Membership of the LPN Association. She was also very active as a Member of the Morden Hospital Auxiliary when she lived in Miami and Morden.
She enjoyed many years curling and held several different positions on the Curling executive as well as worked many, many hours in the Curling Club canteen. She was active in the Miami United Church UCW, volunteered as co-Caterer/co-ordinator at the Miami Community Hall, was a Member of the Miami Fun & Fiddle Board, volunteered selling Daffodils, and volunteered as a driver for South Central Cancer Care.
Joan spent numerous years co-managing the Local Fall Supper and although hesitant to admit it, was extremely honored in 2004 to have been chosen and receive the first ever awarded Miami & Areas Volunteer of the Year (at which she was called Miami’s original 911 for aid rendered in the community and at the local hockey rink) and in 2012 received the Citizen of the year Award at the Miami & Area Foundation Gala.
A private family service will be held at the Miami Cemetery with a come and go Celebration of Life at the Miami Community Hall, commencing at 2:00pm July 19th.
The family asks that in lieu of Flowers or cards, if friends so choose a Memorial Donation may be made in the name of Joan Katherine Frost to South Central Cancer Resource, Morden, MB., Miami & Area Foundation or STARS Manitoba.
