In the 1950’s the family moved to Atikoken, Ontario where John attended school.
After the death of Jacob in 1962, the family moved back to the Morden area.
John was employed as a bookkeeper after receiving his CGA certificate from Red River College in the 70’s. Some of his jobs were Friesen Books (Altona), Morden Cannery, Western School Division, director of the Fossil Museum and Decor Cabinets.
John was a remarkable builder. No task was too big or too small.
John was a member of the Morden Elks, the Manitoba Elks Association, Ducks Unlimited, Big Brothers Big Sisters.
John was predeceased by his parents, his sister Helen, brothers Jim, Allan and David and his brother-in-law Melvin.
John leaves to mourn his passing 3 nieces – Susan, Christine and Leanne, 6 nephews – Steven, Ted, Pat, Fred, Sean, and Robert and their families, 3 – Sister-in-laws – Tannis (Jim), Anne (David), and Fran (Allan).
Special thanks to go to the ambulance attendants that came to the house, the Morden Police, the doctors and nurses that tended to his care when John was in hospital and of course, Wiebe’s Funeral Home for their kindness and caring at this difficult time.
