Jonathan G. “Jon” Hills, age 88 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton, ND.
Jonathan G. Hills was born March 31, 1935 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Howard and Charlotte (Gowran) Hills. He graduated from Grafton High School in 1953 and attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN on a one year American Legion Basketball Scholarship. Jon was united in marriage to Veronica Campbell on May 29, 1952 in Rock Rapids, IA. The couple made their home in Grafton where Jon worked with his father at Hills’ Inc. Jon later owned and operated the implement dealership until selling to his sons in April of 1997. Vicky passed away on Feb. 25, 2021. Jon moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home September of 2022.
He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family and friends. He was a member of the former St. James’s Episcopal Church of Grafton. He also served on the Grafton School Board and Norwest Bank Board.
Jon is survived by his children: Susan (Doug) Kirkeby, Grafton, ND; Barbara (Paul) Dolan, Grafton, ND; Michael (Karen) Hills, Grafton, ND; Elizabeth (Peter) Germann, Chanhassen, MN; Scott (Barb) Hills, Grafton, ND; David (Mary) Hills, Grafton, ND; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on 2/25/2021, In-laws: Eugene & Phyllis Campbell and Betty Ann & Michael Sink; nieces: Lisa Campbell and Roberta Siegler.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:30 PM -2:00 PM at at the church. Inurnment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
