Joseph E. Robinson, age 90 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Unity Hospital of Grafton.
Joseph E. Robinson was born November 11, 1931 in Midland Township of Pembina County the son of the late Hubert and Ada (Warington) Robinson. He attended rural school near St. Thomas. Following his education he worked for area farmers. Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan. 20, 1951. He served on the USS Barton DD722 during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge on Nov. 26, 1954 he returned home to St. Thomas. Joseph was united in marriage to Betty Hanson on September 12, 1958 in Warren, MN. The couple made their home in St. Thomas where he was working for Whelan Brothers Farms. He later worked for Orvil Gilleshammer Farms and retired from Gilleshammer-Thiele Farms in 2015.
He was a member of the St. Thomas American Legion and the Grafton V.F. W.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Betty of St. Thomas, ND; his children: Brenda Hermann (Todd Olson), Bellingham, MN and Brian Robinson, St. Thomas, ND; three grandchildren: Tanner (Amanda) Altendorf, Tyler (Michelle) Altendorf, Janessa Hermann; two great grandchildren: Stella and Emerson Altendorf. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery in the spring.
