Julie was born on the 15th of January 1953 in Morden, MB to Susan and Jim Dyck. When she was three years old, her father Jim died as the result of a plane crash, her mother as a widow, provided room and board for income and later married another man. Julie had an older brother, Gordon. Julie attended school in Morden both grade school and high school and subsequently left home to be with her brother and his wife in Nipigon Ontario.
During that time in Northern Ontario Julie met and married her first husband subsequently moving on to Churchill, Manitoba where Julie became employed with the Government of the Northwest Territories. From there they moved to Rankin inlet Northwest Territories where Julie continued to work for the government of the Northwest Territories. During this time Julie and her husband had two children, Tanya and David. In 1986 Julie and her children moved to Yellowknife, NT and Julie and her husband became divorced. Julie continued employment with the government of the Northwest Territories and while living in Yellowknife met her current husband, Lorne McNeice and his two sons, James and Buster. Julie and Lorne were married on September 3rd, 1988 in Yellowknife. Julie continued working with the government of the Northwest Territories in the transportation and infrastructure department. In 1998 during a government reorganization and downsizing Julie took a payout package and proceeded to go to the University of Winnipeg where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in the year 2000. Subsequently went on to obtain a degree of Master of Arts in Leadership and Training in the year of 2004 from the Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC.
In 2005 both her mother and later her brother passed on. In 2006 Julie and Lorne purchased the Peter’s family farm (10 acres) in Stanley, MB where Julie resided. Lorne continued working in Yellowknife until 2008 when he joined Julie on the farm where they have resided up to this time. Julie was a loving mother; her children were always foremost in her mind. She was also a loving and attentive wife in every way. Julie loved family and friends in abundance. Julie, like her mother before her, had a good sense of humor and enjoyed joking with others. Many people commented on her social ability to interact with others. Julie was kind, generous, thoughtful, and appreciated by many friends in Yellowknife and Morden/Winkler.
Julie loved travelling with her husband, Lorne throughout the western prairie provinces and the northern states of USA looking at and studying the history of the west. Julie was a “total” genealogist not only for her own family but many others. She wrote and published a book of the Kroeker Family Legacy (history of the Klaas Kroeker family). Julie was also a member of “Find a Grave”. Her and husband Lorne spent many a day searching graveyards for headstones of family members as requested and even involved discovering some abandoned grave sites in remote and strange places.
Other things that Julie enjoyed:
-Sharing meals with family and friends
-Playing card and board games with husband Lorne daily
-Hunting, game birds to wood Bison with Lorne
-Exploring wilderness trails in the hinterland
-Camping in the woods while gathering winter firewood
-Plants, especially roses
-Sometimes quilting (especially small quilts or blankets for newborn babies)
-Participation in prayer with others and volunteering in church duties.
She enjoyed a happy and fulfilling life.
