(nee Heide)
January 22, 1928 - January 8, 2026
Peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, our dear mother went to meet her Lord and Saviour with family by her side.
Mom was born in Hochfeld on January 22, 1928, to Jacob and Susanna (nee Dueck) Heide. She
was the 4th of 12 children.
Mom was baptized on the confession of her faith in 1947 in the Old Colony Church by Bishop Jacob Froese. She met our dad in Hochfeld, and they were married on May 7, 1950, by Bishop Jacob Froese in the Blumenfeld school.
They established a small dairy and grain farm just west of Blumenfeld.
Mom was a hard worker and was very involved with all the chores as well as attending to a large garden to provide for the family. She was a good seamstress and us girls were always dressed with her creations.
They moved to Morden in 1997, where mom continued with her love of growing tomatoes and sharing them with neighbours and family. Mom and dad also had more time to travel which she enjoyed as well. She also kept herself busy with sewing dolls and sewing beautiful clothing for them. Many referred to her as "the doll lady".
She had a heart attack in July of 2016 and received a triple bypass. After the surgery and dad's passing we decided it was best for her to move to a smaller place.
She resided in a small apartment for about 4 months until a place at crocus became available. She enjoyed this new place where she continued to keep busy with sewing and baking as well as enjoying the fellowship with new neighbours and family living in the same apartment building.
She loved baking and cooking for our family get-togethers and always made sure there was more than enough so she could send leftovers along with her children and grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren were a big blessing to her, and she enjoyed her interaction with them.
Her faith was important to her and would attend church as much as she was able. She loved listening to hymns and often when we would drop in the hymns were playing on her cd player.
She continued with fairly good health until just before her 96th birthday. On August 7, 2024, she moved to Swan Lake hospital and on May 16, 2025, she was able to move to Salem Home. She was so thankful for the wonderfull care she received at these places.
Mom reached the age of 97 years 11 months and 17 days.
She is survived by her 4 children. John and Sara Janzen, Jake and Martha Janzen, Ike and Tina Klassen, Dale and Ann Hoeppner, 14 grandchildren,26 great grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law.
She was predeceased by her husband John A. Janzen in 2016, 3 sisters, 5 brothers, 4 brothers-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law and all of the Janzen in-laws.
Till we meet again mom. In our hearts forever. We love you. The family.
Funeral service was held Wednesday January 14, 2026 at 2 pm at the Winkler Sommerfeld church with interment at Hochfeld cemetery.
We the family would like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff at Swan Lake hospital and Salem home for the wonderful care they provided to mom. Also a special thank you to Reverend Art Wiebe for the visits and bringing the service of encouragement to our family and friends and also a special thank you to our many friends and relatives for all your prayers.
