(nee Sawatzky)
1949 - 2022With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our wife, mom and grandma, Kathy Klatt.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, Kathy Klatt passed away at the age of 73 years.
Kathy is predeceased by her parents David and Anna Sawatzky, and her father-in-law Reynold Klatt..
Left to cherish loving memories are her beloved husband Jim Klatt of Morden, MB., her children Karen Alexander (Todd Malyon) of Headingley, Cyndi Menke of Winnipeg, Rochelle (Brent) Laverty of Morden and Mike (Kali) Klatt of Winnipeg, and her grandchildren Tim, Nolan, Brenna, Zach, Breelyn and Connor. Kathy also leaves behind her mother-in-law, Susan Klatt of Morden, MB, 3 sisters, 8 brothers, 7 sisters-in law, 4 brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Kathy spoke fondly of her childhood in Sommerfeld, MB growing up alongside her 11 siblings and spending time with her aunties, uncles and cousins who also lived in the village. For the past 47 years, Kathy resided in Morden, Manitoba where she and her husband Jim, raised their four children and became grandparents.
Kathy was very creative and a gifted seamstress. One of her favorite things to do was to take our ideas for Halloween costumes and bring them to life. When it came to designing and creating, the words “good enough” were not in her vocabulary. Her yard and flower gardens were another source of great joy for Kathy, and she spent many hours sitting outside, enjoying the backyard oasis she created. The yard was a backdrop for many quiet, relaxing moments as well as large and small family gatherings and countless visits with their neighbors.
The ultimate sports fan, Kathy and Jim have visited almost every hockey rink in southern Manitoba and a few in northern, Manitoba, watching their kids and later, their grandkids, playing hockey and ringette. Kathy also became a fixture at many other sporting events including baseball and motocross. She attended school plays, Christmas concerts, dance recitals, swimming lessons, graduations, and she loved hearing about her son’s latest fishing adventures.
Kathy will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life followed by a private family Interment will be held on Monday, September 12th, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Morden Friendship and Activity Centre, Morden, Manitoba.
As expression of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
