Katherine L. “Kathy” Lundgren, age 86 of Park River, ND, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Good Samaritain Center of Park River, ND.
Katherine Aabrekke was born November 6, 1936 in Minnewaukan, ND, the daughter of the late Carl and Lillie (Swenson) Aabrekke. Kathy attended school in Minnewaukan and later received her GED. She worked as a waitress in the community. Kathy was united in marriage to Lyder Lundgren on April 1, 1955 in Cando, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Edmore where they owned and operated the Edmore Drive-Inn. In 2000, the couple moved to Park River. Kathy worked at Welch’s Café and the Park River Good Samaritain Center. Lyder passed away on November 22, 2014. Kathy moved to the Good Samaritain Center in December 2022.
She was a member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
Kathy is survived by her siblings: Elmer Aabrekke, Milnor, ND; Ivan (Bonnie) Aabrekke, Minnewaukan, ND; Shirley (Dennis) Olson, Edinburg, ND; Diane Carlson, Park River, ND; Linda Henning, Evansville, IN; Sandra Cudmore, Grafton, ND; Connie (Tom) Langley, Park River, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carl, Jr., sister Lois Johnson, four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Memorial services will be Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Park River, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
