It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our “baby brother” Kelly. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and loyal friend to those who knew him.
Kelly was born Henry Kelly Hoeppner on October 11, 1967. He was Dad’s namesake after many years of hoping for a boy and, because of that, was spoiled by our parents but by his three older sisters as well.
Kelly was predeceased by his parents Hank and Helen, his grandparents and many aunts and uncles. He leaves to mourn his passing his sisters Debbie (Noel) Brown and their children Tara (Chris) Anderson, Amy (Joel) Pankewich and their two children Benjamin and Harris, Barb (Zeke) Rampton and their children Holly (Jeff) Ritchie and their children Jade and her son Mylo, Bella and Rylan, Kristi Rampton, and Shelly (Terry) Walde and their children Sherri (Jeff) Hoeppner and their children Oliver and Graham, and Jason (Pam) Nelson and their children Ethan, Harper and Beckham.
Despite a somewhat rough start with asthma and croup and repeated hospitalizations as a toddler, Kelly became an avid participant in hockey and baseball in elementary school and high school. However, after high school, golf became his love. He made many acquaintances on the golf course. He also made many friendships and acquaintances while working as a bar tender at Rock’s Bar and Grill and also at the Co-op Gas Bar.
As a child growing up, he was fun-loving and always wanting to hang out with his friends - of which there were many. His friendly personality, which could sometimes be slightly sarcastic but always with kindness, was infectious and ensured there was never a shortage of friends at our house.
Unfortunately, the last several years of Kelly’s life were a struggle for him as his health and mobility deteriorated. We saw our happy-go-lucky brother who loved to joke and laugh (and go golfing) experience difficulties that we wish he could have avoided. Likewise, the number of friends dwindled too. For those that kept in touch with Kelly or tried to visit him - we thank you, and so does Kelly. It meant the world to him when someone reached out to him.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you do an act of kindness by reaching out to someone, bring them a meal, give them a call, or send them a text. Please pay it forward. Kelly would love that!
The family would like to thank Dr. K. Convery, Boundary Trails Health Centre, all the ambulance and paramedics, all of the Homecare Workers, and the friends and neighbours who responded to Kelly in his time of need. Rest in peace baby brother - we love you and will miss you! Give Mom and Dad a hug from us.
