August 3, 1948 - December 10, 2024
Larry was born on August 3rd, 1948, to Ben T. and Susie Friesen in Altona, MB. He grew up in the Thames District doing the things he loved, which were farming, playing baseball and later learning to fly.
Life events happened which took him from the farm into partnership with his Brother-in-law, Ernie Kehler and his Brother, Glen. This is where he would eventually meet the love of his life, me, Margo. And he was the love of my life. We were married on July 17, 1993. A day even more important to him than our wedding happened on September 5, 1995, shortly after 2:00pm. Together, we recommitted our lives to Jesus Christ. From that day, the Lord & His Word were number One in both of our lives.
He would also get back to working on the land, first working with Ken & Marlee Wiebe and then, for many years, for Don & Jan Wiebe. This was the work he loved, working the land & being out in nature.
Larry & I have had over 31 years together filled with our own struggles & triumphs & our love for each other. Our faith in God helped keep and strengthen our marriage, especially when the heartbreaking diagnosis of dementia was given to Larry. It broke my heart to see the fear in his eyes. He prayed daily that the Lord would take him home and He finally has. I miss him so incredibly much, but I rejoice that he is pain free in mind and body and praise his Savior.
One of Larry’s wishes was that there wouldn’t be any big to do made of him at his funeral but that the Word of The Lord, especially the message of salvation, be spoken. I am so thankful that that has happened today. He knew he was flawed but he loved the Lord and prayed people would see Christ in him despite those flaws.
He leaves to mourn his loving Wife, Margo. Also, Sisters Verna Lehmann (Don), Marlene Lynch, and Karen Friesen, and Brother-in-law Ernie Kehler (Dee). He also leaves to mourn many much loved nieces, nephews & their families.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Ben T. & Susie Friesen, Sister Helen Kehler and Brother-in-law Wayne Lynch.
I would like to thank Dr. Eric Lane for the amazing care he gave Larry and who was also there for me, helping me navigate this path we were on. I also want to thank the entire Evergreen staff of Salem Home. Dr. Brett, Dayna Jonasson, the RCM, as well as all the other nurses, aids, kitchen & cleaning staff, with a special mention of Tina Fehr who made sure his cookie jar was filled with his favorite jam jams whenever she was on the unit! They all showed so much respect and love for us both and became a very important part of our family. Also thank you to all our family & friends that prayed for us through this ordeal.
Thank you, Reverend Jay & Jessie Wiebe for your message today and the encouraging texts and phone calls the last few years. Thank you to the Morden Sommerfeld Church congregation for all your prayers and encouraging messages as well.
Thank you to the Wiebe Funeral Home staff as well for all their help with guidance.
I thank God for the years I was gifted to be Larry’s Wife. I am so blessed beyond measure! Thank you, Lord!
