LaVerna Knuth was born March 26, 1929 near Coleridge, NE, the daughter of Paul and Hulda (Diedrichsen) Wollschlager. She first attended rural school near Creighton, NE and then the family moved to Fairmont, MN in 1937, where she attended rural school and graduated from Fairmont High School. She attended college in Minneapolis, MN and then worked as a Medical Secretarial Technician for Dr. George Waldren at Cavalier, ND until she married Kenneth K. Knuth on October 4, 1947, after which they farmed in the Hamilton-Cavalier area. She then worked for Pembina County in the Treasurer’s Office and then as Secretary for the Pembina County Water Resource District until retiring in 1997.
LaVerna had many hobbies she enjoyed which included quilting, gardening and flowers, reading, and she loved hosting her family and friends for meals. She was also a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cavalier.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Holte of Grand Forks, ND; niece, Cheryl (Carl) Beckendorf of Fairmont, MN; nephews, Gary (Diane) Wollschlager of Lakeville, MN and Mark Wollschlager of South Haven, MN, as well as many great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; only brother, Fred Wollschlager; husband, Kenneth; and son-in-law, Jeff Holte.
