It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lilla Edith Letkeman, of Roseisle, daughter of the late Doug and Doris Reid, on Friday, February 28, 2025. Lilla is survived by her husband, Fred; sons Matt (Courtney) Dingle, and Daniel Dingle (Benny Chima); grandchildren Adrianna (Jullian) Verhaeghe, Alexandria Dingle (Austin Blanco), Allanah Dingle (Logan Carson), Kailer Dingle, and Keain Dingle; sisters Janie Reid and Donna (Jim) Cameron; nephews Jamie (Regan) Stewart and Jason Stewart (Marie Collette); nieces Christine Cameron and Kathleen Cameron; as well as great-nephews and great-nieces Matthew Stewart, Nathan Stewart, Ryan Cameron, Jessica Stewart and Alliayah Kipling.
Lilla was predeceased by her nephew Scott Cameron.
Lilla was born on December 8, 1952, in Caman, Manitoba. She spent her childhood on the family farm at Myrtle, where she enjoyed an active and caring community life. She participated in all the activities offered at Myrtle including Brownies, C.G.I.T., choir, Sunday School, baseball, and curling as well as the many other activities of a small community. She attended school for two years at McNab before moving on to the “big” school in Myrtle. She then graduated from Carman High School.
After marrying in 1973, Lilla had a son, Matthew who was born in Sechelt, B.C. A year later she moved to Outlook, Saskatchewan where her son Daniel was born. In 1980 Lilla and her sons returned to Carman, where they lived until Lilla married Fred Letkeman in 1986. The family moved to the farm at Roseisle, where Lilla, with the support of her loving family was still living at the time of her passing.
Lilla started her career in Carman at the Boyne Lodge in 1980 and continued to work there for 35 years. She was fortunate to work in a supportive environment that allowed her to implement several innovative and proactive programs.
Throughout her life Lilla cherished her time with family and friends. Every holiday was a reason to get together with her parents, sisters and their families. Food, stories, and games entertained the group for hours.
Following retirement, Lilla enjoyed spending time at home! There she spent time outside maintaining the yard, spending time with her grandchildren, and researching and writing comprehensive, detailed family history books. She wrote two books, one for the Bell side of the family and another for the Reid side.
Lilla will be sadly missed.
Donations may be made to a local charity of one's choice.
