
Lionel James Asselstine passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Rock Lake Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Asta. He leaves behind one brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Leslie and sisters and brothers-in-law, Margit and Doug, Maralee and Alain (deceased), Karey and Nick and their children and grandchildren, Zoe, Eric, Briel, Elise, Caitlin, Chris, Patrick and Jaden.
Lionel was born in Winnipeg on June 22, 1953. His education and occupations led him to many different places. His most formative years were spent in Morden where he practiced power engineering as the facility manager at the Morden Research and Development Center and then concluded his work life teaching power engineering at Red River Community College in Winnipeg. Lionel then moved back to Morden where he spent his remaining years among a few close friends. He will be dearly missed. In his own words “think puppies and babies.” Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
