(nee Wiebe)
June 1, 1929 – August 4, 2025
With sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Marion Harder, on Monday, August 4, 2025 at the age of 96.
Born in Winkler, she never strayed too far from home. After a childhood spent in Winkler and then Kronsgart she spent a year attending Normal School in Winnipeg. With her teaching certificate in hand, she taught in Snowflake and Kane. It was in Kane that she met her husband
of 69 years, Peter.
Over the next 45 years in Kane, they brought up three wonderful children. She made sure all the children could read before going back to work in the schools as an Educational Assistant. When it became time to retire the decision was made to return to Winkler where many more good years were enjoyed. Together with Peter she spent many hours volunteering with several charitable organizations in Winkler while also managing a huge garden into their 90’s. Apparently, no summer is complete without rows of gladiolus blowing in the wind.
Marion is survived by her children Vivian Brown, Les Harder (Heather) and Kevin Harder (Michele) three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as her brother Ken Wiebe (Margaret). She was predeceased by her husband Peter as well as her sister Irene and brother Howard.
In lieu of flowers please consider planting a few gladioli in your own garden.
In keeping with Marion’s wishes a private family celebration has taken place.
