
Marlene H. Gorder was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 11, 2022.
Marlene H. Ness was born March 1, 1934 in Doran, MN the daughter of the late Harry and Marvel (Bjerkness) Ness. She grew up and attended school in Grafton. Marlene started working at age 14 and worked in a café, S&L Store and really enjoyed her position as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. Marlene was united in marriage to William E. Gorder on March 1, 1955 in Grafton. The couple lived and worked around the area for a time but they settled in Grafton in 1969 and have resided here since.
Marlene loved Jesus and was very active in the Grafton Assembly of God Church. She taught Sunday school, served as the Sunday School Superintendant and served as President of the Women’s Ministries. The couple served as short-term international missionaries in Portugal, Russia and Mexico. Marlene loved to bake for her family, especially homemade buns and chocolate chip cookies. Babies and children were her special love.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Roger (Morna) Gorder, Grafton, ND; Sheryl Gorder, Grafton, ND; Dean (Vicki) Gorder, Grand Forks, ND; Janet (Bill) Hruby, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren: Dustin (Patty) Gorder, Krysta (Sean) Hoffmann, Katelyn Gorder, Derek Gorder, Alli (Geoff) Slick, David (Annie) Gorder and Carter (Lauren) Hruby, eight great grandchildren and sister, Joyce Evenson, Surprise, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on August 3, 2017, and her brothers: Gilbert, Duane and Keith.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grafton Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the church. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Lakewood Park Bible Camp in Devils Lake, ND or a charity of the donor’s choice.
