Marvin O. Stark, 83, of Cavalier, North Dakota passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.
Marvin Oran Stark was born on September 5, 1940, to Adolph and Anna (Schweitzer) Stark. He attended country summer school east of Leroy, ND, and high school in Neche, ND. He earned his GED while serving in the US Army while stationed in Germany from 1960-1962. He was employed by Ernie Malo, Karles Sales in Walhalla, Bjornson Oil, Olson Motors, and Motor Coach Industries.
In September of 1997, Marvin married Marlys Stark. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, and visiting with his grandchildren. Marvin was also a member of the Cavalier American Legion, VFW, and Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children: David (Stella) Stark and Stefan (Ricarda) Stark; stepchildren: Curtis Elke, Jim Thorlakson, Marty Thorlakson, Nancy (Mel) Martin, and Connie (Keith) Johnson; siblings: Melvin (Kay) Stark, Karen Seboe, Janice (John) Hebert, Cathy Sommer; sister-in-law, Jackie Stark and brother-in-law, Gilbert Hornbaker. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Marlys; stepdaughter, Melynie Elke Wolfgram; stepson, Tom Thorlakson; siblings, Curtis Stark, Lois Winzer, Louise Dusterhoft, infant siblings, David and Sandra; brothers-in-law, James Winzer, Donald Dusterhoft, Tom Sommer, Vern Seboe, and his other wives, Joyce Hornbaker and Joyce Thorlakson.
Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota.
