September 11, 1955 – May 23, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dad, Marvin, on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 69.
Dad was a talker - he could go on for hours if you let him. He was endlessly curious, always wanting to know how things worked, what was going on, or what someone else thought. He had a way of leaning into conversation with his whole self. There was something boyish about him that never really faded - stubborn, playful, and full of feeling. At his core, he was always reaching for connection, always wanting to understand the world around him, and to be understood a little more.
He felt things deeply. His life took turns that were hard to come back from, and over time, the weight of those seasons left their mark. But through it all, he kept trying. In ways we’re still coming to understand, he held on - to memories, to meaning, to the people and places that mattered. Not everything could be repaired. But his effort, and the tenderness that lived beneath it all…that’s what stays with us.
We hope whatever he was carrying isn’t his to hold anymore. That he’s finally at rest and at peace. And that he knows, without question, how deeply he was and will forever be loved.
He’s remembered by his son Josh, his daughter Desirae and husband Cole. He’s also held in memory by Sonya, with whom he shared many years.
We’re grateful to those who offered Dad kindness along the way, to the Tabor Home for their care and to Wiebe’s Funeral Home for their support.
A private family service will be held.
