They moved to Harvey, ND and Fairmont, MN with Jake working for Gambles, and then moved to Grafton in 1956. In 1969, Jake and Mernice purchased the Grafton Gambles and operated it together until 1984. For the next five years they operated Jacobson Furniture in Grafton.
Mernice was a member of Grafton Lutheran Church and was involved in teaching Sunday School and several church organizations. Her favorite pastime was being with her family and she enjoyed her time at the family lake home for many years. She also greatly enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Mernice is survived by her children: Julie (Daryl) Campbell of Grafton ND; Steven (Tracy) Jacobson of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter-in-law Christine Jacobson of Grafton ND; five grandchildren: Brenda (Tim) Kaczorowski, Brillion WI; Dana Jonsson, Grand Forks ND; Megan (Jeremy) Houser, Grand Forks, ND; Brock (Kelsey) Jacobson, Mandaree, ND; and Stephanie (Scott) Jorgenson, Warren, MN; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. “Jake” Jacobson; son, Wayne Jacobson; her parents and four siblings.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery in the spring.
