Millie “Suda” Houska was born May 16, 1930, in Grafton, ND, the daughter of the late Joseph V. and Mary (Tupa) Suda. She attended school in Veseleyville, ND. Millie was united in marriage to Cyril “Cy” Houska on January 18, 1949, in Veseleyville, ND. Millie worked outside the home at the Deaconess Hospital first as a Nurse’s Aide and later as a Cook. They moved to Grafton and bought the 5:45 Club where they both worked for several years. They truly enjoyed their customers and always had many stories to tell. Cy passed away on February 6, 1999.
Anyone who knew Millie, remembers what a positive person she was and always shined a bright light on everything, she was the most “full of life” person to be around. The thing she loved the most was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the foundation of the family for many years, and as the oldest surviving member of her family claimed she was so lucky to see her family grow and spend time with them. Millie was well known to always be up for going on adventures that usually ended up at some casino! She had the most selfless nature and was very giving to all. Millie had an unfailing amount of faith that she attributed to being guided by the Lord. She had many fun quotes that will live on for years. Just to name a few: “No Problem!”, “Have faith, it always turns out like it should”, “Trust in the Lord” and the family favorite is “Just go and enjoy yourself!”
Millie was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church, the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary, and a member of the first “Grafton’s Golden Girls!”
