Orpha was born in Oslo, MN on March 10, 1934 to Carl and Julia Erickson. She grew up on the farm with one brother and three sisters. She graduated high school in Oslo and went to the University of Minnesota. She received her degree and became a dental hygienist. She worked in Minneapolis for a time.
Orpha came home to the farm occasionally and on one of her trips back she met the love of her life at a dance in Minto, ND. She married Richard Torblaa on June 13, 1956 in Warren, MN. The couple made their home in Marquette, MI where Richard was a biologist until retiring in 1987. They moved to Grafton, ND and bought a home close to his mom. Both Richard and his mother suffered with many health issues and Orpha was a wonderful caregiver.
Orpha is survived by her daughters: LeAnne Torblaa, Wahpeton, ND and Laurel (Rande) Torblaa-Multhaupt, Grand Forks, ND; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband and her brother and sisters.
With an abundance of caution for Covid there will be no funeral services. Graveside services will be in the spring at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
