He is survived by two sons, Sheldon (Kristine) and Sherald and two grandchildren, Erynn and Cayden (Madelyn). Dad was baptized on the confession of his faith on June 3, 1979. We have been told that dad did not give a long testimony but he simply said “I love the Lord”.
Dad was a car guy, whether working on his own cars including many classic cars and Mom’s yellow ’55 Chevy and repairing others vocationally. Dad loved to go watch racing as well as attending and volunteering at car shows for many years in which there are many fond memories.
Dad enjoyed watching hockey whether it was his grandson, sons, the Morden Bombers and Redskins and professionally. Dad also enjoyed camping as a family and with mom especially at Miller’s Campground where they had a seasonal site for many summers.
Dad was not a shy man and always had stories to share with whomever was present but was also caring and generous, ready to lend a hand until his health would not allow for it. Dad’s health journey within the last number of years consisted of heart and mobility challenges during mom’s own health journey until her passing in 2018, followed by stays in the hospital, Simkin Center Care Home in Winnipeg and lastly Tabor Home for over the past three and a half years where he also dealt with dementia.
Thank you to the amazing staff at Tabor Home. We felt extremely blessed by the exceptional care given to dad throughout his time there. We would often hear dad saying how he was so happy to be at Tabor and could not believe he was getting the care he did.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service is to take place on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Wiebe Funeral Home, Morden with ash interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tabor Home Fund Inc.
