Roxane was born in Devils Lake ND on August 20, 1963 to Jeanette Peltier and Steven Charboneau. She grew up in the Devils Lake area until she was 11 years old, relocating to California during her teen years. At 19 years old she came back to ND where she spent the next few years helping and catching up with family. Then in 1991 she met the love of her life Frank “Son” Cavanaugh. They became husband and wife in a small ceremony with both of their mothers present on October 22, 1993 at her new mother-in-law’s residence, followed by the usual car line of honking, loaded down with new nieces and nephews.
Later in 1999 he gave her the wedding of her dreams that included both families and friends that was a big celebration everyone still remembers. The next few years they lived in Devils Lake ND, Warwick ND, and Wisconsin eventually making Rolling Hills, a housing development on the Spirit Lake Reservation, their permanent home. The children they spoiled and loved over the years were their pets that included cats and dogs, the most special, Fox.
Roxane or “Rox/Roxy” to those who were close to her, always welcomed and enjoyed family visiting, especially in the last years when her health started declining. She loved new hobbies that she picked up which kept her busy, especially crafts she made that were unique and usually had butterflies included and put on display in her home. She loved to sit and listen to music of all genres, 70s and 80s being most played. She had a big heart and would help friends and family with whatever she could, especially nieces and nephews on both sides of their families. Her health declined so rapidly in the last days of her life as her husband and loyal pets Bambi and Shelby never left her side until her passing at her home. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her
