The Wake and Prayer Service for Sherry Yvonne will be on Thursday, August 10, 2023 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of prayer at 7:00 p.m. at Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church, rural Tokio ND. The procession to rural Tokio will leave on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in Dakotah Oyate Cemetery. Reverend Larry Thiele will officiate the services.
Sherry Yvonne, daughter of Betty (Taylor) Ellingson and Junior Rodriques of Lorado, Texas was born on April 14, 1954 in Fargo ND. She was at one time married to Jerry Longie and they were the proud parents of Derek, Waylon, and Curtis Longie.
Sherry Yvonne grew up in Warwick ND and completed her GED. She continued her education at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, ND, earning certification in Office Technology.
Sherry Yvonne worked a variety of jobs on the Spirit Lake Nation, including various positions at the Spirit Lake Casino.
Sherry Yvonne met the love of her life, David Longie and they have loved and cared for each other for many years. She treasured her family and enjoyed spending time with her dear friends. Along with friends and family, Sherry Yvonne so enjoyed her furry friends Bandit and Tuttie.
Sherry Yvonne is survived by her only living son Curtis; soul mate David Longie; granddaughter Mercedes; great grandson Avery; aunts Doris Longie, Dianne Jackson, Anita Bear and Sonya Knox; uncle Alvin Bear and many cousins.
She was welcomed to the Spirit World by her Creator, sons Derek Longie and Waylon Longie, parents Junior and Betty, adopted father LaVern Ellingson, grandparents Margaret Ross Bear and Mathias Carson Taylor Sr., great grandparents Lucy Duta, James Ross, and Wilfred Peoples, aunts Silvia Taylor and Belinda Longie, uncles Mathias Taylor, Jerome Bear, Nathan Jones, Solomon Ross, James Bear and Michael Bear.
