On September 24, 2025, surrounded by family, Shirley was called home to meet her Lord and Saviour after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 66.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her husband Cornie, her brother Ed (Sandra), Jennifer (Bert) Fischer, Andrea(Marcel) Beaudry and Chris (Natasha) Friesen, brother Harvey (Carla), Kelby (Hayley) Friesen, Kylee (Matt) Sibbald, brother Jeff (Nicole) Abby, Lucas, Aidan, and brother-in-law Stewart, Tim (Naomi) and Jamie Park, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Cornie’s family; mother Tina Fry, sister Kathy Janzen, sister Martha (Trevor) Krahn, sister Helen Klassen, brother John (Lori) Reimer, and sister Mary Reimer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mom and Dad Peter J Friesen and Elizabeth Friesen, and her sister Esther.
Shirley was born on February 17, 1959, at the Carman Memorial Hospital in Carman. Shirley attended school in Carman for 12 years and graduated in 1977. She attended Winkler Bible School in 1978. She then worked at the Dufferin Credit Union until 1982. After that she spent 43 years at the Wee Care Child Centre in Carman. Shirley and her good friend Lydia Braun toured Europe in 1986. Shirley loved craft shows, crafting, photography, drawing, growing flowers and working in her garden. She was an animal lover and enjoyed her dogs, Ginger, Banjo and Bailey. She also enjoyed baking desserts and cooking meals.
