SIGRID HILDEBRAND
September 24, 1926 - May 20, 2025
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025 , Sigrid (more commonly known as Sigga) passed away peacefully at the Tabor Home in Morden. She is survived by her sons Wesley (Carol) Hildebrand, Dean Hildebrand and daughter Janice (Jack) Mutcheson; grandchildren Teresa Hildebrand, Karen Hildebrand (Andrew Hightower), Joey Mutcheson, Jenny (Blake) Hartry, Jesse Mutcheson (Andrea Rheault) ; great grandchildren Andy, Reid, Raquel, Alana, Miller and Van; and sister-in-law Martha Hildebrand.
She was predeceased by her husband Charlie, daughter-in-law Tiina Hildebrand and grandson-in-law Jason Timmerman.
Sigga was born on September 24, 1926 in the 1-6 community to Ragnar and Salome (Olafson) Gillis. After completing Grade 11, she was a Permit Teacher for a year at Deer Creek School. She then finished high school, continued on to Normal School in Winnipeg and obtained her Teacher’s Certificate. She then taught in Winnipeg, Kilmory School near Carman and Elk Creek School, before marrying Charlie Hildebrand, also of the 1-6 district, on June 27, 1953. They settled nearby in the 1-5 district and farmed together for 50 years. They retired to Morden in 2005. After Charlie’s passing in 2008, Sigga learned to navigate on her own and continued to enjoy town life.
