Verna Ellen Pattle
The family of Verna Ellen Pattle (nee Gibson) announces her peaceful passing on November 18, 2025 at The Foyer in Notre Dame at the age of 104. Verna was predeceased by her husband Victor Pattle, her parents George and Della Gibson, brother Alton Gibson, sister Noreen Gibson, sister Iola Dickey and brother-in-law Delmar Dickey, brother Bus Gibson and sister-in-law Fern Gibson. She will be deeply missed by the rest of her family.
Verna was born on the farm in the Tobacco Creek District where she spent the majority of her life. She embodied hard work and determination. Verna cherished tending to the livestock, working in the fields, and her love of horses. In 1981 she married Victor Pattle, and the two of them built a life together on their farm down the road from her family home. She had an enduring connection to the land and an innate desire to nurture and care for those she loved.
In her final years Verna was cared for by the wonderful staff at The Foyer in Notre Dame, who treated her with grace and dignity. Memorial donations can be made to The Foyer in honor of Verna’s life well lived.
