July 26, 1933 - October 2, 2025
Victor was born on July 26,1933 in Terence Manitoba to Abram and Anna (Neufeld) Koop, the fifth of eleven children. When Victor was 5, he and his family moved to Southern Ontario. Victor accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour as a young boy. He was baptized as a teenager and joined the Vineland Mennonite Brethren Church.
He learned to play guitar from his mother and became active in the church in a variety of music ministries. Victor worked for a few years after high school and then attended Bible School in Kitchener Ontario, where he met his sweetheart, Irene Andres. They were married on June 15th,1957 and were blessed with four children.
Victor loved to play and watch a variety of sports. He enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, lacrosse and golf. Victor enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, camping and fishing.
He was a member of the Torchmen Gospel Quartet which involved many local performances and memorable trips with the quartet members and their families. Victor was always a hard worker and provided well for his family.
At the age of 62, after retiring from his position at an automotive factory, he and Irene moved to Winkler to be close to their children and grandchildren. They transferred their membership to the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church and were active in serving the congregation there.
Family continued to be an important part of their lives. The Grandchildren always loved having sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa’s house and it was a highlight when Grandpa read bedtime stories to them.
Victor and Irene enjoyed many years together at the Buhler Active Living Center before Victor moved to Tabor Home in Morden. He received exceptional care in his last years, which was very much appreciated by the family.
Victor went peacefully to his heavenly home, surrounded by his family, on October 2, 2025.
