
Victoria Basom was born October 7, 1952 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Bodley) Basom. She grew up and attended schools in Commerce City, CO, graduating from Adams City High School. She was united in marriage to David Mongeon on June 24, 1974 in Commerce City. The couple moved to Belcourt, ND following their marriage. They later moved to Rolla, ND where she worked as a CNA at the hospital. They moved to Park River, ND in 1992 and she worked as a CNA at the Park River Good Samaritan Center. She later worked for Friendship in Grafton before her health forced her to retire in 2008. They moved to Grafton in 2020 where she lived until moving into the Park River Good Samaritan Center.
She was member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton and a former member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Park River. She enjoyed listening to music, watching TV, drawing, reading, travelling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Victoria is survived by her husband David, Grafton, ND; children: Brenda (Marcel) Denault, Kimberly (Derek Ensrude) Mongeon, both of Grafton, ND, Darla (Dustin Matcha) Mongeon, Veseleyville, ND; 4 grandchildren; and siblings: Dennis (Marty) Basom, WA and Linda Manning, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Gary Basom.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be the North Dakota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND in the spring.
