Virginia was born on November 19, 1940 in Garrison, West Virginia to Sanford and Evelyn Peters. She was the oldest of three children. After high school, she met Marvin Werman who was stationed in Virginia while serving in the Army. They were married in 1961 and moved to Marvin’s hometown of Hensel, ND to run the family farm.
Virginia and Marvin raised four beautiful children: Susan, Deborah, Marvin Jr. and Michael. As parents, Virginia and Marvin instilled strong family values, ethics and hard work in their children.
Virginia took pride in raising her family and loved attending their extracurricular activities. She never missed a sporting event, was probably the loudest cheerleader for her kids and was known to bring cookies for the entire team after a game.
Virginia will be remembered for the unconditional love and pride she had for her family, her joyful spirit, kind heart and sense of humor. She never missed a beat to crack a joke or to say something to make people laugh. She loved having family over and sharing a meal. She took pride in her home and loved to bake and garden. She had a love for country music, especially George Jones, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn (Virginia was also a coal miner’s daughter). She was in her glory when she was able to attend Loretta Lynn’s concert in Grand Forks some years ago. Often, Virginia would have music playing at home and would be singing and dancing. She will be missed dearly by family and friends.
Virginia is survived by her children: Susan (Perry) Svenson, Deborah (Barney) Kihne, Marvin (Darcie) Werman Jr. and Michael (Kellie) Werman; grandchildren: Sarah (Eric) and Matthew (Renee) Bockheim, Missy (Joshua) Enerson, James (Amber) Svenson, Kyle (Samantha) Svenson, Brianna (Preston) Svenson, Lacey (Jeremy) Bydlon, Sydney and Trevor Werman, Thomas Kihne, and great grandchildren: Jacob, Abel, and Lydia Enerson, Taytum, Hurlee Kay, and Haislee Rogers, Everest and Griffin Bydlon, Mataya and Sena Kihne and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Werman Sr., her parents Sanford and Evelyn Peters, siblings Deanna and Mac and grandson JJ Kihne.
A special thank you to Jenna Mertz for the love and care provided to the Werman family.
