December 23, 1977 – March 24, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wesley Giesbrecht, who left us too soon on March 24, 2025, at the age of 47. Wesley was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, humor, and generosity touched the lives of many.
Born on December 23, 1977, Wes had a lifelong passion for classic cars and trucks. He could often be found working under the hood, admiring the craftsmanship of vintage vehicles, or simply enjoying the open road. His love for cars was more than a hobby—it was a way for him to connect with others, sharing stories, advice, and laughter along the way.
Wes was a fiercely loyal and generous friend, always ready to lend a hand or offer support when it was needed most. His kindness wasn’t loud or showy, but steady and dependable, making a lasting impact on those around him.
In the last eight years, as new children were welcomed into the extended family, the gruff and tough exterior that many knew softened, revealing “Uncle Wes” in his truest form. He had a special gift for making children feel welcome and valued, but no one held a more cherished place in his heart than his niece, Laney. He spent countless hours playing with her, sharing laughter and joy. As his mother fondly said, when he played with Laney, it was as if he was a kid again.
Wes also had a chosen family, Mandy Lewick and her daughter Nevaeh, whom he loved dearly. Wes treated Nevaeh as if she were his own daughter, and they spent countless hours together driving the Manitoba back roads, watching movies, and sharing meals. Their bond was one of pure love and devotion, and he found great joy in being part of their lives.
Wes was predeceased by his father, Peter Giesbrecht in 2018. He is survived by his mother, Eva Giesbrecht; his brother and sister in law Walter and Barb Giesbrecht and their daughter Laney, and his brother Paul Giesbrecht.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Wes’s life will be held on Sunday, March 30th, at 2:00 PM at the Bergthaler Church in Winkler.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Health Sciences Centre in Wes’s memory.
Wes, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace.
