March 29, 1974 ~ April 15, 2025
On Tuesday April 15th 2025, at 3:25am, Bill Reddecopp aged 51 years of Winkler MB, passed away peacefully at the Boundary Trails Health Center with some of his family at his side.
Bill was born on March 29th, 1974 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Jake & Kathy Reddecopp weighing a whopping 12.5lbs. His difficult entrance into this world presented challenges that left him without oxygen for too long. Unfortunately this would affect his learning and coping abilities for the rest of his life.
His school years were met with daily struggles to learn and grow but through the faithful persistence and patience of those who worked with him every day; Bill learned to read and write basic English and Math, which served him well later in life.
Bill was a very kind, polite young man and he showed genuine care for those he crossed paths with. He truly was one of the most generous people you ever met and would give to everyone who asked, when it was in his power to give.
As his teenage years progressed it was evident there was a noticeable shift in Bill which led to a diagnosis of schizophrenia when he was 19.
Although this is when his life became the most difficult and at times out of hand, Bill continued to cling to Jesus and was baptized on June 2nd, 1996 by Bishop Peter Heppner at the Sommerfeld Church in Winkler Manitoba.
Bills was a journey which truly took a village of strong supporters and caregivers who each contributed with utmost patience and sincere concern for Bill in their respective areas; creating a strong network where Bill was thriving and growing.
This eventually led to Bill living on his own and being responsible for tasks such as buying groceries and paying his phone bills. This gave him a sense of pride and purpose and he loved living on his own. He spent many hours sitting in the front of his home, basking in the sunshine, with his cup of coffee in hand, greeting those who passed by his way.
Bill was very close with his Mom and Dad. No one quite cared for him the same way they did.
They made multiple trips to Bills house every day, bringing food, cleaning his apartment, or simply enjoying coffee and chuckles with Bill. They shared a very unique and beautiful bond.
Bill was incredibly fond of his nieces and nephews. They brought him much delight and he would have protected them fiercely had he felt they were in danger. He loved them dearly.
In summer of 2024 Bill began experiencing back pain. It was initially managed with pain killers but eventually needed more investigation as Bills movement was restricted due to the increasing and excruciating pain.
Bill had developed a fear of hospitals after his Dads death in 2021 so he resisted going to get checked until he could no longer bear the pain and needed to be admitted.
Although Bills body was failing him, God was doing an amazing work in that time. Bill was very open to Prayer and would settle down easily when his family read the Bible, prayed with him, or sang worship songs. He became increasingly grateful and would constantly say “Thank you” to the person who took time for him in his hospital room. He also began saying “I Love you” to family when they stopped by for a visit.
It was during his last few months where he formed very strong bonds with his family and marked his legacy of love.
In January, Bill was diagnosed with the later stages of multiple myeloma. He was incredibly brave and strong as he endured so much physical pain right up to the early hours of April 15th when he slept peacefully and seemingly pain free for his final few hours on earth.
Bill was incredibly loved and will be missed.
He leaves to mourn his Mom Kathy Reddecopp, brother John (Mary), sisters Kathy (Joe Tannous), Helen (Ike Wiebe), Lisa (Pete Banman), Nancy (Jake Peters), Marianne (John Dyck), 7 nephews, 12 nieces, and their spouses and 9 great nephews and 8 great nieces.
Bill was predeceased by his Dad Jake Reddecopp in September 2021.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jordan Kroeker for his years of care as Bills primary care physician.
Thank you to the Doctors, nurses & medical staff at Boundary Trails Health Center, Eden Mental Health Center, Health Sciences Center & Cancer Care (HSC), and the staff at Turning Leaf…. for all your diligent care and support for Bill over his lifetime.
