Duane William Davidson was born on April 27, 1931 to Myrtle (Gulseth) and Thorban Davidson in Devils Lake ND. Duane graduated with the Devils Lake High School Class of 1951. While in high school, he was placed on the “All-State Football Team”.
Duane served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1955.
Duane married Shirley Joan Haverwold from Watford City, ND on May 29, 1956. Four children were born to them: Douglas (Donna) Davidson, James Davidson, Nancy (Rick) Schmitz, and Gene Davidson.
Duane had many hobbies. The Devils Lake Elks Band, of which he was a charter member, and enjoyed so much; loved to golf and also was a long time Trap Shooter, winning many trophies through the years; he was inducted into the “North Dakota Trapshooting Hall of Fame” in 1983; in later years he enjoyed ice fishing and he was a great hunter all throughout the years.
Duane is survived by his loving family including his four children, grandchildren Andrew Davidson, Sara Davidson, Trent Davidson, Luke Schmitz and Jacob Schmitz;
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley on May 3, 2015, five year old sister Deanna Davidson and brother Donald Davidson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 19,2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with burial and Military Honors to follow at the Devils Lake Cemetery.
