Justina (Jessie) Zacharias (nee Froese) leaves to mourn her passing; 2 daughters, Janet and Henry Wiebe; Chris and Robert Bazzocchi; 1 son, Lorne and Kim Zacharias; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jacob (Jake) G Zacharias (2013), 4 brothers, 7 sisters and 1 grandson in infancy.

Barbara Helen McLaren (Morris) was born on November 4th, 1937 to Elsie and Tom Morris in Calgary Alberta. After living with Alzheimer’s for far too long she was finally released to join her husband, James Wayne McLaren who preceded her in death on January 1st, 2012. Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29th, 2022 at the Boyne Lodge in Carman, Manitoba.  Thank you to her caregivers there.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her four children Steacy (Bryan), Todd (Tally), Jamie (Dave) and Dean (Penny) and her ten grandchildren, Brock, Emily, Rhys, Michael, JW, Abby, Chase, Scott, Cooper, and Kate, who called her Nan and loved her cooking and dress up box. Barbara is survived by her brother, Jim Morris (Pat) and their three children.
Barbara had an outgoing personality and made friends everywhere she lived in Calgary, Edmonton, Houston and Carman. She believed in starting each day with a smile, kindness and beauty. Barbara generously shared her time as a committed volunteer in her children’s school, the United Church, Calgary Stampede, Newcomers Club and Parkinson’s Society. Barbara was a talented artist, party hostess, crafter, letter writer and lover of flowers.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held ‘high tea’ style in Calgary late summer. Think of her and appreciate the daily moments that bring joy every time you ‘stop and smell the roses’.

Holly Ann Grengs passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, North Dakota, at the age of 62.  
 
Holly was born in Cavalier, North Dakota to Fred Ouellette and Ida Hell on May 6, 1960. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School as a young girl and then attended Walhalla High School. She married Ron Schwab and together they had 3 beautiful children (Amber, Stormi, and Josh). They later divorced and then she was united in marriage to Donald Erickson Jr. They moved to the Warroad/Roseau area in Minnesota where they later divorced and then she married her late husband Bruce Grengs on March 3, 2016. After Bruce passed away, Holly moved back to Walhalla where she remained until her death. 
 
Holly was a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian Tribe. She enjoyed going to bingo and playing games on her tablet and phone. Additionally, until recent years, Holly loved hunting and fishing with her late husband, Bruce. She will be remembered as a kind, free-spirited woman who could make anyone smile when she entered the room.  
 
Holly is survived by her children Amber (Brandon) Buss, Stormi (Josh) Proulx, Joshua (Ken) Schwab and stepchildren Tony Grengs, Andrew (Amber) Grengs, and Amber Grengs; her former spouses Ron Schwab and Don Erickson Jr.; her grandchildren Reese, Brityn, Piper, Elaina, and Maverik as well as several step-grandchildren; her sisters, Melanie Mostad and Jeannette Snyder; her brothers, Steven Frank and Ricky Ouellette; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. 
 
Holly is preceded in death by her late husband, Bruce Grengs; her stepson, Benjamin Grengs; her parents, Fred Ouellette and Ida Hell; her sister, Gloria Jerome; her brother, Danny St. Vincent; her beloved dogs, Scrappy and Sox; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. 
 
Family and friends are invited to the Askew Funeral Home in Walhalla, North Dakota on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 for visitation from 5p.m.-7p.m. with a 7p.m. prayer service to immediately follow.  

Lee Wayne English Jr. made his journey to the Spirit World on June 27, 2022 at his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota surrounded by his loving family.
Lee was born on December 16, 1968 to Lee Sr. and Marsha English in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Lee attended and graduated from Patrick Henry High School. He then went on to the University of Minnesota to study mechanical engineering.
Lee went on to work for a time at Indian Education where he loved helping Native students and always prepared backpacks filled with school supplies for the school year. Lee eventually began worked at Mystic Lake Casino as a blackjack dealer and was promoted to supervisor.  Lee was at Mystic Lake for 18 years before becoming ill. 
Lee enjoyed going to the movies, his favorite was all the Marvel and DC Comics ones. He loved Star Wars and Star Trek, even got his kids into all that. He liked playing pool, having cookouts, spending time with his daughter, son and grandkids. He loved the Minnesota Vikings and would always watch the games with his Dad. He loved traveling, taking his family to waterparks and visiting family in ND and Red Lake, Minnesota. He also enjoyed a good game or two of “Call of Duty”.
Lee always helped when anyone needed him and was loved by many. His laugh was loud and contagious. 
Lee is survived by his loving daughter Lynsey (Andre), son Tiny, grandchildren Tweet, AJ, Leeyah and Bezh; his special friend Eppy; Marsha English; brother Nick English; sisters Tasha (Stash) Hanks and Tina English; nephews Sheldon English, Skylar English, Lee English; niece Sophia English. 
He was preceded in death by his father Lee Wayne English Sr., grandparents Herman English, Barbara Brown, Herbert and Lilly Hunt, uncles Herman “Lude the Dude” English Jr., Ron Hunt, Don Hunt, Ken Hunt and Dwight Hunt.
Pallbearers for Lee will be Delwyn English, Coogie Hunt, Stash Hanks, Andre Amos, Sheldon English, Skylar English and Isiah Hunt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Little Al English and Nick English.

​Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday July 2, 2022 at the Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with interment to follow at Rosenbach Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1PM-8PM on Friday at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler and at the church prior to the service. Donations may be made in Agatha's memory to the BTHC Foundation designated to Cancer Care.

Peacefully on June 26, 2022 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Margaret Pearl Doell passed away as she asked for the hand of Jesus to take her home.
She is survived by one brother and sister in-law and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Henry Doell in 2016, parents Frank and Lila Courtice and step father A.E. Clayton.
A private family service will take place.

Tom L. O’Brien, 76, of Cando, ND, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Towner County Medical Center in Cando. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Cando Lutheran Church, Cando, ND at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Music will be provided by Catherine Anfinson. Honorary urn bearers will be Employees of Legacy Coop Fertilizer Plant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a local charity in Cando.
Tom L. O’Brien was born on July 17, 1945 in Cando, ND to Earl and Mathilda (Sand) O’Brien. He attended school in Cando and worked on various grain farms in his younger years. He worked in the potato industry for over 35 years with the Jorde family. He then went on to the Cando Farmers Grain & Oil Company/now Legacy Coop until his cancer diagnosis. He also was employed during that time with North Star Public School driving a school bus.  He took teams to their games early on and later helped with routes.  He so enjoyed the kids and missed it so much when he had to quit. 
Tom was known as the “junk man” of Cando because he collected metals and scrap from anyone who wanted to get rid of it and spent these last years of his life sorting and tearing apart “stuff”. It gave his life purpose as he aged because you couldn’t take his purpose away from him. 
Family was always the most important part of his life.  He was loved for who he was, quiet, quick-witted and always had a “Tommy joke” to tell.  He was united in marriage to Gloria Baldwin on May 28, 1976 in Devils Lake, ND.   
Tom is survived by his wife, Gloria of Cando; sons, Michael O’Brien of Cando and Mitchell of Devils Lake, ND; honorary daughter, Monica (Jason) Halverson and their children of Devils Lake; grandchildren, Zachary (Brooke) Mears of Devils Lake and Cameron (Brooke) O’Brien of Beulah, ND; sister, Doreen Frazier of Stockbridge, GA and her family; sisters-in-law, Rose O’Brien of Minot, ND and her family and Doris (Robyn) Brekke of Minot and daughter Danielle Voeller.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leslie O’Brien and Gerry O’Brien, nephews Leslie & Bradley O’Brien.

Christine Hughes, 93, of Cavalier (and lately of Scottsdale, AZ) passed away on June 25, 2022 at the Belmont Village Senior Living home with her daughter Cathy by her side.
Christine Bjornson was born on July 18, 1928, in Cavalier to Matthias and Gwen (Dinusson) Bjornson. She graduated from Cavalier High School in 1946 and attended the University of North Dakota, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She also earned a Master’s degree in Music Education in 1969. Christine was very proud of her Icelandic heritage and composed choral music to Icelandic poetry as her thesis project.
Christine taught music in Lancaster, MN and Manvel, ND before marrying Kenneth Hughes in 1952. They lived in Ishpeming, MI, where their children Matt (1955) and Cathy (1957) were born. In 1961 Christine and her children moved to Hillsboro, ND, where she taught music and 5 th grade for 5 years. In 1966 the vocal music position at Cavalier School opened, and she taught music in all grades until her retirement in 1988. After her retirement she taught private voice and piano for 10 more years. She touched countless
lives in those years and was immensely proud of her students’ success.
Christine was a member of United Lutheran Church, where she directed the choir and played the organ and piano. One of her great joys in school and church was playing to accompany group singing. She also served as music director/pianist for several Cavalier Community Theater productions and was the first director of the Cavalier Camerata Choir, which produced concerts of The Messiah and the 7 Last Words of Christ.
Christine volunteered on the Cavalier Library Board and the Pembina County Historical Society. She was an accomplished seamstress and crafter and belonged to the quilting group at her church. After retirement Christine enjoyed travels to Iceland, Norway, Great Britain, Alaska, and around the United States. One of her greatest joys was visiting with family and friends over meals and coffee.
Christine is survived by her children Matt Hughes, Fargo; and Cathy Hauan (Jim), Scottsdale, AZ; 1 grandson, Andrew, Los Angeles, 2 beloved sisters-in-law, June Bjornson and Gertrude Bjornson of Cavalier, brother-in-law Myron Bill, Escondido, CA, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents, brothers Deane and Robert Bjornson, and sister Pauline Bill.
A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church in Cavalier on July 18 at 1:00 p.m.
