Ann was born on July 27, 1936 to Antone and Johanna (Brazzone) Ratto in Alameda, CA. She was the youngest of ten brothers and sisters. At a very young age, her God given talent for playing the piano was very evident. She graduated from Alameda High School with the class of 1954. She studied Business at Modesto Junior College after high school. After college, she worked for Travelers Insurance and US Steel in downtown San Francisco.
In 1965, Ann was united in marriage to Alfred Gangl Sr. They made their home and raised their family on the family farm in rural Starkweather until her husband’s death in 2001. She moved to Devils Lake after leaving the farm to the Heartland Courts for 20 years where she spent many hours entertaining local residents with her wonderful piano playing. Ann could play the piano for hours without ever having a sheet of music in front of her. She loved listening to old classics from Perry Como, Andy Williams, and Frank Sinatra. She also enjoyed dancing. Everyone knew of her love of sweets.
A great debt of gratitude is owed to her son, Alfred Jr., who ensured she was cared for over 20 years.
Ann is survived by her loving family.
