Carol was married to Ermen Brown Sr. on December 6, 1963. They were married for 49 years.
Carol worked in various jobs throughout her life mostly with children and elderly. She was employed with St. Jude’s, Headstart, Spirit Lake Group Home, and Sioux Manufacturing Corporation. She found her passion being a foster parent, opening her home to many children throughout the years. She was a foster parent from 1963 to 2011, with over 100 children passing through her home.
Carol loved to sing, she loved music by Elvis and Patsy Cline. She enjoyed purchasing vehicles and when someone in the family got a new vehicle, she wanted to take a ride in it. She loved going to shop and eat out, of which she did right up till her death.
Carol is survived by her children, Ermen (Lori) Brown Jr., Craig (Punky) Brown, Carol Brown II, Cameron Laducer, and Dane (Misty) Herald; grandchildren are Melissa Dauphinais, Brittany Decouteau, Ryan Brown, Nicole Brown, Codi Malnourie, Craig Brown Jr., Bethany Brown, Jaydean Cavanaugh, Cordelle Gourd, Asher Meade, Victoria Whitetail, Berina Littleghost, Candice Brown, Nikoa, Neko, Neka, and Aiyanna Herald; great grandchildren are Myona and Mila Dauphinais, Easton and Mikan Kraft, Bexlee Decouteau, Lanehya, Jordan, and Taylor Malnourie, Jedidiah and Keaton Brown.; one great-great grandson, Parker Dauphinais; brothers, Silas Ironheart Jr., and Jesse (Sherry) Cavanaugh Jr.; sister Beverly (Marshall) French and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ermen Brown Sr., her parents, Margaret & Silas Ironheart Sr., her grandparents Florence and Aaron Lohnes, and Joseph and Myrtle Ironheart and her grandson, Kyle Littleghost.
Pallbearers will be Carol’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Dane Herald, Ryan Brown, Craig Brown Jr., Cameron Laducer, Lanehya Malnourie, Myona Dauphinais and Bethany Brown.
Honorary pallbearers, Bill and Julie King, Pat Walkingeagle, Marsha Blueshield, Ramona Gannon, Sue Brown, Carol Cavanaugh, and Jeannie Lohnes.
The family like to thank those who helped care for mom during her time of need.
Visitation will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Church with burial in the church cemetery.
