Charles M. Lindell, age 92 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.
Charles Lindell was born June 10, 1928 near Adams, ND, the son of the late Hamilton and Selma (Johnson) Lindell.  He grew up and attended country school near Adams.  Following his education, he began working for several area farmers.  He was united in marriage to Shirley McPherson on June 10, 1950 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River.  He served in the Army from 1951-1953 where he was stationed at Ft. Hood and later in Korea.  The couple made their home in Park River following his discharge.  He started working for area farmers again and later drove bulk truck for Charlie Harris.  The couple moved to Arizona in 1998 and then back to Grafton in 2011.  He was moved into the Park River Good Samaritan in 2013.
He was a member of the Park River American Legion Post #147 and a lifetime member of the VFW.  He was a former member of the Park River Fire Department and the Walsh County Saddle Club.  He enjoyed going for drives around the country and playing cards.
Charles is survived by his son John (Sharyl) Lindell, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Mandy Jo Lindell, Grand Forks, ND, Ryan Lindell, ME, Tyler (Kylie) Lindell, Fargo, ND and Nick Lindell, Fargo, ND; great grandchildren: Kian Lindell and Jayden Lindell; daughter-in-law Phyllis Lindell, Fargo, ND; siblings: Neil (Kay) Lindell, Grand Forks, ND, Joyce (Lloyd) Johnson, Grafton, ND, and Linda (Jack) Gillespie, Park River, ND.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, sons: Robbie and Tom, and siblings: Carol Wang, Betty Flaten and Allan Lindell.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Military rites will be provided by the Park River American Legion Post #147 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.  Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. 

Merlin J. Narloch, age 57 of Chandler, AZ and formerly of Drayton, ND, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from several health complications and Covid-19.
Merlin was born on November 18, 1963 in Drayton, ND, the son of the late Edward and Lorraine Narloch.  He was raised on the family farm south of Drayton.  He helped on the farm and had some hobbies including woodworking, shooting guns, tinkering with model airplanes and small gas engines.
He attended and graduated from Drayton Public School and the University of Minnesota Crookston.  After college he worked for a few area farmers, at the Manvel Elevator and then moved to Arizona for work and his health.  He worked for a computer plant and was also everyone’s “Handy Man.”  While making Arizona his home, he married Cynthia Uphanhour.  They were only married a short time and she passed away several years ago.
Merlin is survived by his brothers: Mark (Dawn), Mike (Susie) and sister Mary.  He has 2 nieces: Sarah and Haily and a nephew, Cody Narloch.  He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery of Park River. Selma C. Johnson, age 98 formerly of Park River, ND, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020 at her daughter’s home in West Fargo, ND.
Selma Christianson was born April 23, 1922 in Kensington Township, Walsh County, ND, the daughter of the late Theodore and Kari (Gire) Christianson.  She attended school in Park River, ND.  She was united in marriage to Gordon M. Johnson on March 25, 1943 in Crookston, MN.  They had nine children.
Selma worked in various places in the community, including the Good Samaritan Center where she worked as a dietary aide for 17 years.  She retired in 1995 at the age of 73.  Selma was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  She was involved in the women’s missionary fellowship and enjoyed bible study with other church members. Selma developed lifelong friendships with her church family.
Selma’s family was the center of her world.  She loved them unconditionally.  She was always true to her words and by God’s grace she was able to forgive and forget quickly.  Through her faith she learned it is important to “Let it go and give it to God.”  She was devoted to her faith and trusted in the Lord with all her heart.
Selma enjoyed many things such as: reading her daily devotions, visiting over coffee, gardening, baking, bird watching, doing puzzles and playing Skip-Bo, Uno and Chinese Checkers with her grandchildren.  She was the happiest when she was able to spend time with her family.  She had a quick-witted sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Selma is survived by her children: Maryann (Charlie) Greicar, Bismarck, ND, Guy (Gail) Johnson, Edinburg, ND, Gordon Johnson, Minneapolis, MN, Judy (Keith) Papenfuss, West Fargo, ND, and Alan (Jeanette) Johnson, Minto, ND; son-in-law Bill Folendorf, Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, brothers Clarence, Morris, Arthur and Nels, sons Richard and Wayne, daughter Karen, grandson Travis, nephew Wayne Christianson. Her daughter Susan Folendorf passed away on December 18, 2020.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Park River.

Roger O. Quam was born to Gilman and Ruth (Hanson) Quam in 1949 in Devils Lake, North Dakota and died on November 19th, 2020 in his home.
He attended elementary and high school in Devils Lake graduating in 1969.  He also attended Lake Region Junior College. In 1973, he married Sharon Springsted and they had a daughter, Natalie. They later divorced.  In his younger years, Roger was an avid outdoorsman; spending the majority of his free time hunting whatever was in season, or fishing on Devils Lake. Roger’s love for nature knew no bounds and he loved to be outside- rain, shine, or snowstorm. Roger was also a Minnesota Vikings fan and was sure to watch whenever they played. Roger worked at many places in his life and was employed by Leever’s Foods, R-place bar, as a beekeeper, and for George Fredrickson’s Bait making live bait deliveries all over the country. Before retirement he had also worked for Devils Lake Addiction Services/Rehab/CRU and Reentry Center.  He also completed surveys for the ND Department of Game and Fish. He married Vonnie Johnson in August of 2010.
Roger is survived by his wife, Vonnie and her daughters, Valerie (Dean) Lefor, Aimee Johnson, (Joe Rivard,fiancé), and grandson, Tyson, daughter Natalie and her husband Scot Knoop. Brother and best friend Kent Quam, his wife Cindy and their son Christopher (Kris); their daughters Bailey and Emili and Cameron. Sister, Sharon (Myron) Martinson and their children Chad, Mary, Aaron, and Shane. He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and too many friends to count- many of his friendships began in childhood and lasted for life.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, Ruth and Gil, and sister Patricia.
