
Anna Marie Kovarik was born June 29, 1929 in Latona Township, Walsh County, North Dakota, the daughter of the late James and Julia (Sirek) Kovarik. She attended rural country school, Park River High School and graduated from Michigan High School. Anna was united in marriage to James C. Ellingson on November 17, 1953 in Crookston, MN. The couple made their home in Adams, ND. She helped on the farm, worked for Johnson grocery store, various restaurants in the area, the Nekoma Missile Site, was a Direct Service Provider at the Life Skills and Transition Center and as a cook at the Adams school. Anna retired in the late 1980’s. James passed away on November 29, 2010. Anna continued to make her home in Adams until moving to Drayton in August of 2016 and in July of 2020 she moved into the Good Samaritan Center of Park River.
She was a member of the Adams American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to spend time with her children and loved to spoil her grandchildren. She loved to follow her great grandchildren when they were racing. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing Bingo, was a good cook, was an excellent seamstress, she loved to have a lot of fun and enjoyed having Sunday dinners with her family.
Anna is survived by her children: Gail (Dean) Osowski, East Grand Forks, MN; Jennine (Marshall) Gray, Stanley, ND; Janice Hillebrand, Elgin, ND; her grandchildren: Julie, Cheryl, Katie, Allison, Vincent, Meagan, Jason, Jamie, Kyra and Travis; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James C., son, Jim, daughter-in-law, Roxie and siblings: Dorothy Zahradka and George Kovarik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Bechyne, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church or cemetery funds and the Park River Good Samaritan Center.
