Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday November 4, 2021 at the Chortitz Old Colony Mennonite Church with parking lot service (101.3FM). Viewing will be from 1PM-6:30PM on Wednesday at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler. Interment to follow at the Osterwick Cemetery.
Anna Peters (nee Ginter)
1942 – 2021
On Sunday October 31, 2021 it pleased our Saviour and Redeemer to suddenly and quickly take our beloved wife, dear mom, grandma and great grandma home. Anna Peters of Osterwick, MB was 78 years, 11 months, 18 days and was surrounded by her family.
Anna was born November 13, 1942 in Mexico to Klas and Anna Ginter. In her youth, mom loved to climb trees and sing hymns. She often told us how nimble she was back then. Mom was baptized on the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on May 18, 1964 in Mexico. Mom married her best friend Cornie Peters September 6, 1964 and they were blessed with 57 years, 1 month and 25 days of marriage. Mom and dad’s first few years of marriage were spent living in Mexico where four of their seven children were born. In 1972, in search of a better life for their family, mom and dad moved to Canada. They lived in Winkler, MB for about two years. Then they moved to Osterwick where they lived and raised a family for almost 50 years
.
Mom was a hardworking, loving woman. In the early years, mom hoed beets with some of her kids. But most of her life she worked at home. She cooked many a meal for family, friends and even some of dad’s customers. Anyone who came in the door was offered something to eat. We rarely left mom and dad’s emptyhanded. Once she knew our favorite food or treat, she worked hard to give us that. For example, some grandchildren loved her grape jam, certain soups and her special cookies. She made sure her jellybean jar was always full. Our mom was a true prayer warrior. She spent much time reading scripture, hymns and poems. We could go on and on, but we know it wasn’t mom’s desire to receive earthly praise but to humbly and quietly love and serve her Savior and family. A true example of a Proverbs 31 woman.
Mom leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, Cornie Peters, seven children and their spouses, 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren:
