Annie Bergen (nee Rempel)
1929 ~ 2023
Ann Bergen passed away Thursday July 27, 2023 at the age of 93.
She was born in Osterwick, MB on November 2, 1929 to Peter and Anna Rempel (nee Friesen) and grew up in Schanzenfeld. Mom was baptized upon the confession of her faith April 10, 1948 by Bishop Peter Toews in the Winkler Sommerfelder Church. June 10, 1951 Dad and mom were married and they were married for almost 56 years although dad was in the personal care home for over 9 and a half years. Mom and dad had two sons whom they loved very much. Life became hard when dad got sick and battled Alzheimers and Parkinsons for over 12 years. Then when dad was in personal care, daughter-in-law, Ruth became sick with cancer and passed away. Then not quite six months later, dad passed away. Son, Edwin was not well but he got very sick after a couple of years and in 2011 he also passed away. This was all very hard; three family members passing away in less than five years. But in 1976, when mom was very sick in the hospital and praying for her family, God promised her with a sign by her bed “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” When mom opened her eyes, there was no one there but mom was at peace, God’s peace. The message was so clear. Her faith and tryst kept her going through life and with prayers and a loving family as well as prayers of friends and church members, mom was able to carry on.
Ann is survived by one son, Allan Bergen, granddaughter, Laurie (Pete) Froese and their son, Jordan, granddaughter, Cindy (Boyd) Jolin and their daughters, Isabella and Lilliana, grandson, Steve (Amber) Bergen and their sons, Simeon, Isaiah and Nehemiah, granddaughter, Stacey (Stephen) Waters. She was predeceased by her husband, Tony and son, Edwin and daughter-in-law, Ruth.
