Art passed away May 6th, 2021 at Carman Memorial hospital, where he had his 94th birthday on April 30th. He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen, in 2013. He has three children left to cherish him, Linda Swanson, Robert McLean {Pauline} and Beverly McLean {Earl}, along with many grandchildren and great grand children.
Dad was the eleventh child of Errol and Edith McLean, and was raised on a farm south of Graysville, Mb. The best of times and the hardest of times. As soon as he was of age he signed up and joined the army, following in the footsteps of his five older brothers. Dad was very proud to serve his country. After the war, he met mom and they were married on November 15, 1947. They lived in Winnipeg, Mb. for a short time with dad working as a mailman. Eventually, they returned to Carman where they made a home and raised their family.
Dad worked for Southwest Transfer driving trucks for many years. It was a good life, with hard work, and long hours. After his retirement, he went on to be bar manager at the Carman Legion for ten years. He really enjoyed his time there, being with his friends and comrades. As he would say, he had to give that job up as it interfered with the next love of his life, golf. Dad took up golfing at a late age and started living on the Carman golf course where he and his many golf buddies enjoyed their days together. Fun, laughter and good times were enjoyed by all.
