Bradley James Armey, 60, of Devils Lake, ND and formerly of Cando, ND passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at his home. A family viewing will be held at Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home in Cando, ND at 2:00 pm on January 13, 2022. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Cando Lutheran Church with Pastor Bonnie Weaver officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church and a light lunch will be served afterward. Burial will be held at a later date at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND. Military honors will be provided by the Hal Parker Post #79 Cando American Legion and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Music will be provided by Catherine Anfinson and Dick Lybeck.

Bradley James Armey was born in Cando on May 24, 1961. He was the first born of the “Armey Army Brats” to James Lee and Gloria Hendrickson Armey. Brad and his siblings lived many places while Jim served in the military. They formed strong bonds with aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family. In 1973 Jim brought his family back to Cando where Brad attended school. Brad proudly served our country in the U.S. Army National Guard and U.S. Air Force. He married Joni Halverson in Cando on July 18, 1980, and had two children together, adding to the “Armey Army Brats” unit!
As attested to by so many family members and friends, Brad was always cheerful, encouraging, and helpful. He loved family with his whole heart and soul. Especially, the little children of the “Armey Army Brat” unit! If there was any way that he could help anyone, he would be there. It made no difference if you were family in need or a stranger in need. He loved telling jokes and stories for all to enjoy. He always had a few “kid” jokes in his arsenal for the little ones. He was a loyal Grampa, doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting their every endeavor, and stealing kisses from them.
With his kind heart, listening ear, soft spoken voice, and big shoulders he brought love and life to any gathering. For example, he took great pride in helping his Aunt Glenda run the annual Rick J. Thomas Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament. His interests included fast cars, flirting with the waitresses, tinkering on anything, family gatherings, and being the life of the party.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Hendrickson and his grandson, Skyler Comer. He is survived by his father, James (Sharon Rae); siblings, Merrie Nass, Eugene, Sharon, and Ryan Eggl (Wendy); children, Tia Hursh (Matt), Jennifer Shonert OldRock, (Scott), Katrina Armey Comer (Wayne), Joey (Teresa); grandchildren, Colton, Hallie, Dalanie (Katrina); Alexis, Ava, Kylie, Katelyn (Joey); Jadyn Arneson (Austen), Braughn, Kaitlyn (Tia); Chaskae and Pattilyn (Jennifer); Great Grandchildren: Paisley and Paxton (Jadyn); Joel (Kaitlyn).
