Alton “Carl” Morin was born on March 2, 1958 to James and Doris (Jetty) Morin in Devils Lake ND. In his youth he attended school at St. Michael’s Little Flower and Devils Lake Public School.
Carl was a jack-of-all-trades. He worked as a welder at the Fargo Foundry for 4 years, Sioux Manufacturing, at Frederick’s Live Bait Shop (George and Lou Lou) for 10 years and off and on he worked for Chuck Nelson at Nellie’s Bar. He was frequently seen in the city of Devils Lake, keeping the sidewalks swept and clean in front of various businesses and they in turn would pay him for his services.
Carl used to travel around in his younger years, was a talented pool player and liked watching old Western shows and movies on TV.
Carl suffered a depilating stroke, which left him paralyzed on one side and that necessitated the need for more care so he became a resident of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center in 2015 and then in 2017 moved to Eventide Care Center. Carl was known to be a big flirt by the nurses and staff at the homes, but he truly appreciated all their care and concern.
Carl treasured his family and friends with all his heart.
Carl is survived by his brother Lloyd (Cathy) Sund of Finley ND; nieces Stephanie Bell and Doris Jerome of North Carolina; nephews Raymond RunningBear, South Dakota, Nick RunningBear, Bismarck ND, Joel RunningBear, South Dakota, Sky Bell, St. Michael ND and Matthew Eagleman and Three Feather Eagleman both of Fargo ND; aunt Gloria Jetty, St. Michael and many dear cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father Doris and James, maternal grandparents Ambrose and Frances (Lohnes) Jetty, sister Roberta Bell, brother Kim Morin, niece Yana RunningBear, aunts Betty Morin, Genevieve Nash, Beatrice Abrahamson, Marie Baker and Vivian Jetty, uncles David Jetty and Frank Morin and other relatives and friends.
Carl will be forever loved and missed. You are Home now. REST IN PEACE.
