Cecil was born to Emil J Sigurdson and Sigrun Johnson Sigurdson on November 27th, 1934 at the home farm in Gardar, ND. He was raised in the Gardar area. Cecil graduated from Gardar High School and went on to NDSU Ag College during the winter semesters. After that he came back to Gardar to farm. While farming in Gardar he enlisted in the National Guard and became a Sergeant in the Bridge Division and did that for 6 years while continuing to farm for the next 49 years until the age of 82.
In 1958 he met the love of his love Rose Adele Anderson at the potato house when Rose was asked to deliver him an ice cream cone from her mother’s R&M Drive Inn. They were later married August 21st, 1959 where they made their home in Gardar for the next 7 years. In July 1961, they welcomed their daughter Connie into the world followed by their son Kevin in March of 1964. In 1966 the family moved to Edinburg to the house they still reside in today.
Cecil’s greatest legacy was creating happy and loving memories for his family. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren unconditionally and always made time for them. Whether it was a sporting event, dance recital, or school concert Cecil was sure to be there to support his loved ones and lived for those memories he created.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers Steve, John, and Lloyd; and his two sisters Lois and Emily.
He is survived by his loving wife Rose Adele, Edinburg, ND; and daughter Connie (Roger) Moe, Park River, ND; and son Kevin (Wanda) Sigurdson, Prior Lake, MN. He has six grandchildren: Tyler (Carolyn) Moe, Justin (Ashley) Moe, Caryn (Matheus) Sigurdson Santiago Pires, Spencer Sigurdson, Austin Moe, and Andrew Moe. He has 5 great grandchildren: Bryson, Cameron, Mahren, Everett, and Harrison Moe. He is also survived by his brother Paul (Ina) Sigurdson, Gardar, ND; brothers-in-law Dean (Elisa) Steinke, CA; Jake Anderson, Henry (Dottie) Anderson, both of MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 28th, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Gardar Pioneer Church, of Gardar, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7pm with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home in Edinburg, ND and again on Thursday for one hour prior to the service, at the Gardar Pioneer Church. Burial will be at the Gardar Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gardar, ND.
