Daniel Harder
1940 ~ 2023
Daniel (Dan) Harder, 82 of Oakbank Manitoba,(formerly of Morden) passed away during the early hours on February 15, 2023 at Beausejour Health Center.
Daniel is survived by his wife Nicole, his three sons Terry, Kelly, his wife Martha, Randy, his wife Kim, and stepson Jeff, his wife Val . 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. One brother Jack, his wife Shirley, and one sister, Mariann, her husband Will. His niece Bev, her husband Darren, Shelly, her husband, Mark and nephew Sheldon.
He was predeceased by his parents Dan and Anne, one grandson Kenton, and one sister Annie.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 21 at Wiebe’s funeral home Morden with interment immediately following the service at hillside cemetery. Pastor Art Wiebe of Winkler Sommerfeld church will officiate.
Dan was born near Lowe Farm Manitoba on July 14, 1940. He lived there for the first 12 years of his life. After which the family moved to the farm north of Morden. He was baptized on confession of his faith in the Sommerfeld Church. He was married to Katherine in 1959. In 1963 they purchased a farm near Miami Manitoba. They worked very hard and raised their three sons there. His heart was a farmer. The farm was sold in 1980 and shortly after the marriage ended.
Dan began a truck driving career and drove for many years. He became a driver supervisor, which included teaching mountain driving in British Columbia to novice drivers.
In the fall of 1985, he remarried to Nicole in which they eloped to Las Vegas in a romantic fashion. They purchased their home near Oak Bank, MB, the following spring. After his truck driving career ended, he began a career with Manitoba Crop Insurance. He enjoyed working with the farmers. At age 73 he eventually retired to his home in Oak Bank. His hobbies throughout his life consisted of hunting, fishing and traveling.
