Daniel Olivarez, Jr. was born September 3, 1963 in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, the son of the late Daniel Olivarez, Sr. and Ernestina (Rios) Olivarez. He lived in Moses Lake, Washington, McAllen, Texas and Grafton, North Dakota, while his family worked farm labor. Daniel was united in marriage to Alice Martinez on September 1, 1979 in St. Thomas, North Dakota. The couple made their home in Park River while he worked for Rossford Johnson and in 1980 they moved to Grafton. In 2005, they moved to Nash and worked for Steve Johnson for the past 15 years.
Daniel was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. He enjoyed having his family at the farm, fishing and was a big jokester. He was a people person; a hard worker and loved the Dallas Cowboys.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Alice Olivarez, Grafton, ND; children: Melissa Shropshire, Grafton, ND; Daniel (Ashley) Olivarez, Grafton, ND; Jennifer Olivarez, Grafton, ND; Albert (Lisa) Olivarez, Grand Forks, ND; Steven (Larissa) Olivarez, Grand Forks, ND; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings: Juanita (Frank) Ochoa, Lafayette, LA, Leticia Leija, San Antonio, TX; Roy (Ene) Olivarez, Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ernest Olivarez and brother, Israel Olivarez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Inurnment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
