Dan was born in Voss, North Dakota on December 24, 1939, the son of John and Agnes (Dusek) Burianek. He graduated from Grafton High School in 1957. He enlisted in the US Army and from 1959-1961 was stationed in France.
On October 16, 1962 Dan was united in Holy Matrimony with Delores Gerszewski in Grafton, North Dakota. Since then the couple resided in Grafton.
One of his joys in life was old time music. He played in many bands including his own-The 3 B’s with his brothers John and Amby and brother-in-law Evarist Barta. Dan could play almost any instrument including the accordion, drums, guitar and keyboards.
Dan worked for Hills Inc. from 1962-1978 and then at Grafton Equipment until he retired in 2001. In his retirement years he worked part time at the Grafton Community Scale.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the St John’s Cemetery Board and the Church Council. He was a former Knight s of Columbus Grand Knight and a member of the Grafton City Council.
Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores, and 3 children, Todd Burianek of Grafton, ND, Brad Burianek of Grafton, ND and Tara (Hans) Halvorson of Bemidji, MN; 5 grandchildren Josh Burianek, Abby Burianek , Hannah Burianek ; Liberty Halvorson and Wyatt Halvorson. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joe Burianek, John Burianek, Vendelyn Burianek and Amby Burianek, sisters Stanny Barta and Tracy Dahlgren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10:30 am at St John’s Catholic Church in Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Visitation is open to the public. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
