Darlene was born March 21, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN to William and Isabelle Gullick. She grew up in Ulen, MN with 2 brothers, Jim and Terry, where she graduated from Ulen High School.
Following High School she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked numerous jobs before making her way to Park River, ND in the early 60s. In Park River she married Tom Bouldin and had three children, Perry, Patti, and Pam.
In the late 60s she married Lloyd Gilbertson and had one son, Paul. They were married until Lloyd’s passing in 1982. In 1987 she married Ronald Monson. Together they loved traveling (especially to Nevada), going to casinos, and camping. Darlene worked for the Grafton State School for many years, as well as the Hillcrest Golf Course, Park River Curling Club, Hankey Farms, Alexander House, Mushroom Plant, and the Park River Good Samaritan Center before moving to Grand Forks to be closer to her kids and grandkids. In Grand Forks she did a lot of volunteering at Altru Hospital and loved to spend time watching UND Hockey with her granddaughter, Madi.
She loved the outdoors in the summer months, feeding her birds, planting her garden and flower beds. She was an avid hockey mom going to all the home and away games. She loved playing Bingo, painting up numerous ceramic figures, and was also a Cub Scout leader. She’s been a part of the Lankin Legion Auxiliary since 1988.
Darlene is survived by her children: Paul (Deb) Gilbertson Grand Forks, ND; Perry Bouldin Grand Forks, ND; Patti Bouldin Grand Forks, ND; Pam Bouldin Jamestown, ND; her stepsons Lonnie Gilbertson and Maynard Monson; her grandchildren Madison Gilbertson, Skylar Sandvig (Gregoire), Cory and Chris Bouldin; and her brother Terry Gullick.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Gilbertson, her husband Ronald Monson, her brother Jim Gullick, grandson Cole Bouldin, and her parents William and Isabelle Gullick.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Hoff Lutheran Cemetery of rural Adams, ND in the spring.
