David Bernard Wilkes, age 84 of Park River, North Dakota passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND. David was surrounded by his family and CHI Friendship family while he received care at the hospital.
David was born on June 26, 1936 in Bowbells, North Dakota. David first moved to CHI Friendship in 1985 and has remained in CHI Friendship care. David also joined Friendship’s day program in 1985.
David worked at Hardee’s doing janitorial work. He was so proud of his job and of his Hardee’s uniform. After he left his job at Hardee’s it was still his favorite place to go out to eat. He also worked at All Season’s Laundry part-time.
He loved to spend time with his family, attend church, and listen to music – especially Johnny Cash. He was very quick witted and always had a comeback, his favorite being “Are you jealous?” or the occasional “You’re fired!” He was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed watching the game with friends. David enjoyed living a retired lifestyle as he cherished peace and quiet and visiting with others.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home in Park River. Inurnment will be in the spring. The memorial service will be live streamed at 1:00 P.M. on the Tollefson Funeral Home, Inc. Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TollefsonFuneralHome/).
